（３）に関する情報、特に携帯電話の説明は、Survival Orientation資料で最も詳しいものである。Simply put, cellular phones in Japan are excellent. と説明されている。ただし携帯電話がsometimes unnecessary featuresも備えている、と辛口のコメントもある。料金面ではOne thing to keep in mind is that charges are more accurately accrued in Japan than elsewhere. If you talk for ten seconds, you'll only be charged for ten seconds, so your monthly calling allowance should go farther than you think. と詳細をきわめている。これまでに多くのALTが高い授業料を払って学んだ注意事項なのであろう。
インターネットの申込みについては、Try the closest electronics store, apply online, and／or ask people in your area. と説明されている。先輩ALTがオンラインで申し込んでくれるのを、不安そうに眺める新人ALTの姿が目に浮かぶ。
ShigaJET. orgをのぞいてみると、これが面白い。１例を挙げると、日本の夏を初めて過ごすALTが蚊の退治法を尋ねている。回答者のALTは「蚊取り線香」を勧めたいのだが、名前が分からない。そこで、some mossie coils that you light and it lets off a scent to get rid of the mossiesと説明している。日本人が買い物の際に、求めるものの英語名が分からずに、機能などを説明してなんとかその場を切り抜けようとすることがある。同じ問題を経験しているALTに共感を覚える。
（５）は、I'm from America. を America kara kimashita、I'm glad to meet you. をyoroshikuと言う、などの「超」がつくほどの初級日本語レッスンである。もちろんこれでは役には立たないので、学習用のウェブページ（例：http://www.kanjichallenge.com/）が紹介されている。感心するのは、これほど基礎的な日本語講座であるにもかかわらず、関西弁が紹介されていることだ。さすがは関西である。滋賀県の先生方は、新人ALTの口から次の関西弁が聞こえても、驚かれないように。akan（←dame）、tabehen（←tabenai）、souyana（←soudane）。

なお、各グループとも“Conbeni”で飲み物休憩をすることができる。Convenience store を日本風に発音する彼らも大変だ。でも、彼らの発音は日本人に通じたのだろうか…。
